About Me

I always put off writing the "about me" section (my Facebook page is still blank after 8 years) because I don't want to put my personality in a box.  How can I ever condense all the aspects of "who I am" into a concise, readable paragraph?  And who's to say that today's description of me will still be accurate tomorrow?  I guess I'd better just stick to the basics...

Even though I'd like to avoid labeling myself, the truth is that the majority of my identity is "mom".  A relatively new mommy, unless you count my first baby(puppy), Zooey.  This is my dream career.  I love taking care of all my babies (Jared counts sometimes...).  I take pride in my home.  I attempt to cook.  I do my best to make our lives beautiful in every way.

*Truth: I had to redo a Kindergarten project entitled "What I Want to Be When I Grow Up" because my teacher believed that "mom" was not an acceptable career choice.  What a confusing thing to tell a 5-year-old.*

To finish, I suppose I ought to say a little something about my personality.  I'm what I always refer to as a "sensitive soul."  It hurts my feelings when someone cuts me off in traffic, or when the McDonald's drive-through person tells me their shake machine isn't working.  I feel the emotions that I imagine others are experiencing (which I'm told is called "empathy").  Several times a week I consider cancelling my social media accounts because I am so hurt by how people are treating each other online.  I once burst into tears on the highway after passing by an old man with a flat tire because I was so touched by the kindness of the young man who pulled off to assist him.  It's no joke, I truly just want everyone to be nice to each other.  So I guess that is who I am.
