Boot Socks

Guess what! While digging through my box of scrap fabrics, I found another partial sweater:

Leia can't keep her puppy teeth away from my projects

Pretty much all that was left of this sweater were the sleeves and neckline.  I loved the zigzag pattern of this Goodwill find, but it was too small for me to wear.  I had previously cut off the body of the sweater to use for a pillow (which, incidentally, was just snagged beyond recognition by Zooey's collar.  Boo).  After some shopping last week, I had an idea for how I could use the remnants.

Boot Socks!

I cut the sleeves off.  That's it.  I didn't bother trying to hem the edge because sewing sweaters is a pain.  They will probably fray, but I left them long enough that I can fold the rough edge under to hide it. They also happen to be long enough that I can scrunch them down and wear them as leg warmers.

hello, flash dance.

But here is how I intend to wear them.  Not only do they provide some extra insulation for my ankles, but they add a little interest to my leg's sense of style.

I somehow always end up having my best ideas right at the end of the season.  This idea, like Zooey's dog sweater, came a little late in winter, but there's no rule that says that I can't just save them for next fall... (except certain fashion rules, I suppose.  But you know I don't follow those!)
